Melanocortin Peptide
Melanotan II
About Melanotan II
Melanotan II is a non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist, meaning it hits several MC receptors beyond just the one responsible for tanning. This gives it a broader range of effects: skin pigmentation, increased libido, and appetite suppression.
The tanning effect is faster and more pronounced than Melanotan I, but the trade-off is more potential side effects, including nausea (especially early on), facial flushing, and increased mole darkening. Dosing is typically 250 to 500 mcg daily during a loading phase, then tapering to maintenance.
It's popular in the cosmetic peptide space, though the libido-enhancing effects have made it a dual-purpose compound for many users.
Onset and what to expect
Faster results than MT1. Some people notice slight color change within the first week, with significant tanning by weeks 2 to 4. The libido effects can kick in within hours of the first injection for some people.
Appetite suppression is a secondary effect that varies person to person. UV exposure still helps activate the melanin, but MT2 can produce some color change even without much sun.
Loading phase is usually 2 to 4 weeks of daily injections, then maintenance drops to 1 to 2 times per week to hold the tan.
Side effects
More side effects than MT1 due to the non-selective receptor activity. Nausea is very common for the first few injections. Starting with a lower dose (100 to 250 mcg) and working up can help. Facial flushing, headaches, and fatigue are also reported.
Mole darkening is more pronounced than with MT1. New moles can appear. Get a baseline mole check before starting and monitor throughout. Spontaneous erections in men are a known effect and can be awkward.
Storage and reconstitution
Same as MT1: refrigerate after reconstitution, use within 28 days, keep away from light. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water.
